St Vincent Street Church
Glasgow City Council allocated £1m towards the repair and conservation of this Alexander Thomson building within their ownership. Page/Park architects prepared proposals and specification for the works, which incorporate essential repairs to the roof. Initial feasibility work carried out in the 1990’s allowed a strategy of ‘top-down’ repair to be developed and conservation works to the tower were completed as phase 1 in 2000. Phase 2 of Repair and Conservation Work which deals with the main and side aisle roofs, proposing a change in roof-finish from slate to lead following re-assessment of the use of slate on low-pitched roofs is now complete. The three trusses in the main sanctuary have been strengthened and any necessary rot repairs carried out. New rainwater outlets were installed to the main roof and associated cast iron downpipes hidden internally. During this contract external scaffolding allowed access to the upper levels of stonework, meaning stone repairs evident on the tower, were carried out around the level of the clerestory glazing. Works under that contract were valued at approximately £1.1million. Specialist conservation reports have been prepared by Gordon Urquart and Alan Ferdinand investigated the interior decorative scheme, as up to £60,000 was contributed to the project by a charitable trust.

60 Steps Preservation Trust
The Trust has been progressing its involvement with local owners and residents and has also been making enquiries about different options for funding the next stages of their project following the Feasibility Study.

Eton Terrace
Another house has had a good level of repairs carried out under the control of Robin Lorimer Architect including new leadwork on the front roof slope and new Thomson terracotta chimney cans. This was reported at a recent committee meeting of ATS. Certain other houses are however in a poor state with weeds growing out of  the stonework.

Walmer Crescent
The Walmer Crescent Association has been successful in being awarded charitable status. The Alexander Thomson Society gave some financial assistance, but applications to the National Lottery “Awards for All” and to the recently formed Glasgow City Heritage Trust to support a professional strategy study met with no success. The Association will continue to apply to other funding bodies, as it is essential that priorities are established and repair work is done properly. 2008 was the 150th anniversary of the construction of Thomson's Walmer Crescent, and to mark the occasion Nicola Sturgeon, Govan's local MSP, planted a tree in the gardens at the rear of the Crescent. A large poster to explain the importance of the Crescent has been placed in Cessnock Underground Station.
